Floating in the Sky: A Dreamy Day on the Balwangsan Cable Car!

Hello everyone! Today, I'm bringing you my review of the 'Balwangsan Tourist Cable Car' in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do. Have you ever wanted to feel like you're flying in the sky? If so, you absolutely must ride the Balwangsan Cable Car! It'll be an unforgettable experience. Mount Balwang stands at 1,458m, making it the fifth highest mountain in Gangwon-do. Can you imagine how tough it would be to climb this mountain on foot? That's why taking the cable car is such a great tip! The scenery you see while riding up is so beautiful, my finger started to hurt from pressing the camera shutter so much.

The Thrilling Sensation of Flying, Balwangsan Tourist Cable Car

From the moment I boarded the cable car, I couldn't hide my excitement. As soon as we started ascending, the view below us was absolutely fantastic. The cable car travels 3.7km in 23 minutes, and during that time, I was completely mesmerized by the scenery. It was especially thrilling when we passed over the valleys! Seeing the valley below made me feel like I was walking on air. My friends and I kept squealing "Eek!" as we enjoyed the ride. It might be a bit scary for those afraid of heights, but that's what makes it so exciting and fun! Time flew by as we took in the sights from inside the cable car. At first, we saw dense forests, but as we ascended, the trees became smaller, and we could see the entire mountain landscape. I was constantly in awe, exclaiming at the view. Halfway up, fog suddenly rolled in, turning everything white. It felt like we were passing through clouds. When the fog cleared and the scenery reappeared before our eyes, it was truly moving. It was like watching a scenic show created by nature. There's also an audio guide system in the cable car that explains the different areas as you pass them. Learning about Balwangsan's history, plants, and animals made the journey even more fascinating. I especially enjoyed hearing about the origin of Mount Balwang's name. Part of the cable car floor is transparent, which gives you an exhilarating feeling when you stand on it. At first, I was too scared to step on it, but when I gathered the courage to do so, the feeling was incredibly special. I even took my best photo there!

Breathtaking Views from the Summit of Balwangsan

When we finally reached the summit, the feeling was indescribable - it was just amazing! The view from the top of Balwangsan was truly spectacular. Mountains and clouds stretched out in all directions, with distant cities visible in the background. It felt like we had stepped into an enormous painting. There's an observation deck at the summit where you can enjoy a 360-degree view. The photos I took there are ones I'll treasure and look back on to relive those memories. They say you can see the East Sea on clear days, but unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy when we visited, so we couldn't see that far. Still, the misty scenery had its own mysterious charm. The air at the summit was noticeably different. The cool, fresh breeze on my face was invigorating, and I can still vividly remember that feeling. Taking a deep breath felt like it was cleansing my lungs. It was the kind of crisp, clean air you can never experience in the city. From the observation deck, we could see mountain peaks in every direction, making me feel like I was standing above the clouds. The sight of clouds flowing between the mountains was particularly magical. The tiny villages and roads visible in the distance looked like miniatures, which was fascinating. There's even a café at the summit. Sipping on a warm drink while taking in the view was such a happy moment. We lost track of time chatting with friends and enjoying the scenery. There's also a circular trail near the summit. We had some extra time, so we walked along it, and the views were different but equally beautiful. The landscape framed by trees looked like a picture in a frame. There were benches here and there, allowing us to take breaks and enjoy a leisurely walk. As sunset approached, the sky turned a brilliant red. Watching the sunset from up there made me quite reflective. Being away from daily life and looking at the world from such a high place seemed to help clear my mind. The time spent at the summit was truly special. I felt the grandeur of nature while also feeling small in comparison. I was grateful for the opportunity to have such an experience. The memories from the summit of Balwangsan will surely be unforgettable moments in my life.

Various Activities to Enjoy on Balwangsan

Riding the cable car isn't the only thing to do when you visit Balwangsan. There are various attractions prepared at the summit. We didn't have time to try everything, but there were many activities I wished we could have done. First, there's the 'Skywalk', where you can walk on a glass floor and look down at the steep cliff below. I was too scared to try it, but my friends said it was fun. There's also a place called the 'Donggang Observatory', which offers yet another unique view. In winter, they even operate a snow sledding area, so you can experience different attractions depending on the season. The descent offered a different perspective. We noticed scenery we hadn't seen on the way up. They say the view is particularly spectacular if you descend around sunset. We timed our descent to catch the sunset, and the sight of the sky and mountains bathed in red is still vivid in my memory. The Balwangsan Tourist Cable Car seems like an essential part of any trip to Gangwon-do. You can fully immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and create special memories that are hard to come by in everyday life. Plus, it's a great option for those who don't enjoy hiking but still want to experience the view from the mountain summit. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. The temperature at the summit is lower than at ground level, so it's a good idea to bring a cardigan or light jacket even in summer. Also, cable car operations may be suspended depending on the weather, so be sure to check the weather forecast and operational status before your visit! If you get the chance, definitely try riding the Balwangsan Tourist Cable Car. You'll be able to experience the feeling of soaring above the clouds, even if just for a moment, away from your daily routine.
