Ever felt like escaping the hustle and bustle of city life? Why not take a trip to Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm? I came back fully recharged after immersing myself in nature! Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm is a highland ranch located at an altitude of 850m. The scenery, with its vast meadows, blue skies, and adorable sheep, was like a scene straight out of a fairy tale. As soon as we arrived at the farm, the fresh air and scent of grass seemed to awaken every cell in my body.

Special Moments with the Sheep
The first thing that caught my eye upon entering the farm was the sheep! The sight of these fluffy white creatures strolling across the meadow looked so peaceful. We even had the chance to feed them, and the feeling when they ate from my hand was so exciting and cute!
The sound of sheep grazing and their occasional "baa" was so soothing. These are sounds you'd never hear in the city. I took lots of photos while walking among the sheep, and every angle looked like a perfect shot. The selfies I took with the sheep are now decorating my Instagram feed!
Some of the sheep were really friendly towards people. There were sheep that would approach me with curious eyes when I got close. I still remember their innocent gaze. I also had the chance to touch their soft wool, which was even fluffier and warmer than I expected.
The farm also had a space for sheep shows. It was amazing to see the sheep move according to the staff's instructions. Especially when they walked in a line, it looked like a small parade. Watching the show made me realize how intelligent sheep can be.
Besides sheep, we could see other animals too. There were goats, rabbits, donkeys, and more, making it feel like a small zoo. The baby goats playing around were so cute, I spent a long time just watching them.
There was also a wool experience zone where we could see various products made from sheep's wool. We even got to try wool felting and made small dolls. It was harder than I thought, but it was a really fun experience.
Enjoying Nature's Beauty Through Farm Trekking
Another charm of the sheep farm is its trekking courses. There are well-maintained walking trails around the farm where you can slowly walk and enjoy the scenery. As we walked, we could really feel the high altitude, almost as if we were walking on clouds.
The landscapes we encountered during the trek were indescribably beautiful. The vast meadows, the sky stretching above, and the distant mountains... it was like a scene from a movie. They say you can even see the East Sea on clear days. Although it was a bit cloudy when we went and couldn't see the sea, the scenery peeking through the clouds was still stunning.
There were benches along the way where we could sit, enjoy the view, and take photos. The pictures we took here were truly Instagram-worthy! We took turns taking photos for each other and tried various poses with the scenery as a backdrop. Every single shot turned out great.
There are several trekking courses of varying difficulty, so you can choose one that suits your fitness level. We chose a medium difficulty course, which took about an hour and a half. It was a bit tough at first, but as we kept walking, our bodies loosened up and we started to feel refreshed.
During the trek, we could see various wildflowers and plants. In spring, they say azaleas and royal azaleas bloom, while in summer, daylilies and pinks flower. When we visited, the pinks were in full bloom, dotting the meadows with pretty flowers. Seeing butterflies flying among the flowers was like something out of a fairy tale.
There was also an observatory midway through the trekking course. From here, we could see the entire farm at once, and the view was spectacular. The sight of sheep scattered across the meadow looked like a beautiful painting. I heard the sunrise and sunset views from here are especially beautiful, so next time I'd like to time my visit to see one of those.
As we trekked, we occasionally encountered sheep. It was great to see them grazing up close. The sight of baby lambs frolicking around their mothers was particularly adorable.
At the end of the trekking course, there was a small waterfall. Taking a break while listening to the waterfall was so peaceful. The cool sound of water, birds chirping, and the wind blowing together created a natural symphony.
After finishing the trek, my body was a bit tired, but my mind felt refreshed and at ease. It felt like all the stress from city life had melted away. Having these trekking courses made me realize that the sheep farm isn't just a place to see sheep, but a place to fully enjoy nature.
Different Charms in Every Season, A Year-Round Beautiful Sheep Farm
Another appeal of Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm is that it shows different faces in each season. We visited in early summer, and the lush green meadows harmonizing with the sky were beautiful. In spring, you can see fresh green sprouts, in autumn, a golden landscape with silvergrass and autumn foliage, and in winter, a snowy wonderland.
They even operate a snow sledding area in winter. Imagining the sheep against a backdrop of white snow seems wonderful. Next time, I'd love to visit in winter to see the snow-covered farm.
Since the farm shows different aspects each season, one visit doesn't seem enough. I want to see its appearance in spring, summer, fall, and winter. It would be great to visit every season and experience the different charms.
Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm seems like an essential stop on any trip to Gangwon-do. I can't think of a better place to heal a mind tired from city life. The clean air, beautiful scenery, and cute sheep... everything was perfect.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind. Since it's a highland area, there can be large temperature differences between day and night, and it can be windy, so pay attention to your clothing. It's a good idea to bring a light outer layer. Also, operating hours can change depending on the weather, so be sure to check before your visit!
If you get the chance, definitely visit Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm. You can create special memories that you could never experience in the city. How about finding some peace of mind while strolling through the meadows with the sheep? I'm sure you'll come back 100% recharged like I did!
So, are you ready for a trip to Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm? Cute sheep and beautiful nature are waiting for you!
