Deoksugung Palace, a place where history and culture come alive.
Hello! I recently visited the beautiful Deoksugung Palace in Seoul. Deoksugung was an important royal residence during the Joseon Dynasty, and it is now a famous tourist attraction that many people visit. The admission fee is 3,000 won for adults and 1,500 won for youth, and the operating hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM. Deoksugung Palace is located in the Jung-gu district of Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of the City Hall Station on Line 1 of the subway. While there is no dedicated parking lot, which was a bit inconvenient, the surrounding area has various restaurants and cafes where you can rest and enjoy your visit after exploring the palace.
Inside Deoksugung Palace
As soon as I arrived at Deoksugung Palace, the grand and beautiful Seokjojeon Hall caught my eye. Seokjojeon Hall is the representative building of Deoksugung Palace, where the King and Queen of the Joseon Dynasty once lived. There were many tourists gathered in front of Seokjojeon, and I became one of them, taking photos. After that, I was able to tour various other buildings, such as Gyeongheeung Palace Site, Jungmyeongjeon, and Gangneongjeon. Particularly, Jungmyeongjeon was charming with its beautiful and antique appearance, and Gangneongjeon was the place where the King held important diplomatic events. There were also many picturesque photo spots throughout Deoksugung Palace, where I was able to capture some great photos. In addition to the historic buildings, Deoksugung also has Daguanheon, where you can experience the royal traditional tea culture, as well as various restaurants where you can enjoy delicious food. I spent a leisurely time sipping traditional tea at Daguanheon and indulging in desserts at a nearby cafe.
Fell for KOREA
During my visit to Deoksugung Palace, I was able to feel the beautiful space where history and culture are truly alive and vibrant. I was particularly interested in participating in the Deoksugung Moonlight Tour program, which is held in the evening, but unfortunately, the timing did not work out for me this time. However, I hope to have the opportunity to revisit and experience the night tour next time. Overall, I believe that Deoksugung Palace is a beautiful and historic royal palace that is deeply steeped in Korea's rich culture and heritage. The surrounding area also offers an abundance of sights and delicious food, making it the perfect place to spend a leisurely and enjoyable time. I would highly recommend that everyone have the chance to visit Deoksugung Palace. It is a truly captivating and immersive experience that allows you to step back in time and connect with Korea's remarkable history and cultural traditions.
