Rooftop Picnic, Restaurants, and Cultural Spaces at Millak The Market in Gwangalli, Busan

Let me introduce you to 'Millak The Market', the new hotspot in Gwangalli, Busan. It's a recently opened multi-purpose cultural space that houses various shops, restaurants, and exhibition areas all in one place. The accessibility is great, with convenient public transportation and parking options. If you're taking the bus, get off at the 'Millak Reclaimed Land Public Parking Lot' stop - it's just a minute's walk from there. I drove, and the parking facilities were well-organized. Parking fees start at 4,000 won (about $3.50) for the first hour, with an additional 1,000 won (about $0.90) per 15 minutes after that. However, I heard that you can get parking validation if you spend a certain amount, so keep that in mind! Also, small to medium-sized dogs under 15kg (33lbs) are allowed if they're in carriers or pet strollers. So, pet owners, take note!

Rooftop Picnic in Gwangalli, Busan

My favorite part was definitely the rooftop picnic area! When I went up in the evening, the view of Gwangan Bridge was breathtaking. It was so beautiful that I lost track of time. You can rent picnic mats for 5,000 won (about $4.50) on-site, but I brought my own. If you forget to bring one, don't worry - you can always rent one there! After settling down, I noticed there were places selling drinks and snacks nearby. I was craving ramen, so I made some at the ramen vending machine. I ordered through a kiosk and they brought it to me quickly. Eating ramen while enjoying the night view of Gwangan Bridge was such a healing experience! As night fell, the lights came on and the atmosphere became even more romantic. There happened to be a DJ performance that day, so listening to music while taking in the night view was truly the epitome of a perfect evening! I heard they often have small events like this on the rooftop, so if you're lucky, you might catch a special performance too. One important note: make sure to clean up after yourself and separate your trash. It's a shared space, so it's crucial to keep it clean!

Restaurants at Millak The Market

Millak The Market has a wide variety of restaurants and cafes. I had a delicious handmade burger at 'Burgers Almighty', and it was fantastic! The thick, juicy patty is a must-try for burger enthusiasts. For dessert, I highly recommend 'Milkcow'. I had a croffle (croissant-waffle) with milk tea, and it was amazing. The combination of soft cream and crispy croffle was heavenly. There's also a Starbucks for those who want familiar coffee. I noticed a Japanese restaurant called 'Ryoko' that I'd like to try next time. The shopping options were great too. I bought some cute workout clothes at 'Goal Studio', a sports apparel brand. The designs were simple yet stylish, perfect for working out. We also took fun photos at 'Pony Film' self-photo studio. They had various props and backgrounds, allowing us to take unique pictures.

Cultural Spaces at Millak The Market

Another charm of Millak The Market is its cultural spaces. When I visited, there was a small exhibition featuring works by local artists. It was wonderful to see the unique perspectives and emotions of Busan artists. I was particularly impressed by the paintings capturing Gwangalli scenery. I heard they often have busking performances too, which I'd love to see next time! Imagine listening to music with Gwangan Bridge as the backdrop - it must be an extraordinary experience. One of the best features of this place is its floor-to-ceiling windows. You can see Gwangan Bridge at a glance from inside. Sitting in a cafe, sipping coffee while enjoying this view was absolutely amazing. The view at sunset is particularly fantastic. The sky turning red and the lights of Gwangan Bridge gradually coming on was breathtakingly beautiful. I can see why Millak The Market is so popular. Since eating is no longer allowed in Busan's waterfront parks, this place offers a great alternative where you can enjoy delicious food and cultural activities while admiring Gwangan Bridge. With frequent pop-up stores and various events, there seems to be something new to experience every time you visit. The operating hours are from 10 AM to midnight, so you can enjoy it at your leisure. However, individual store hours may vary, so it's best to check in advance. I went in the evening to enjoy the night view and delicious food, but I think it would be lovely during the day too. Especially on a sunny afternoon, you could spend a relaxing time looking at the sunlit Gwangalli beach. On weekends and holidays, it gets quite crowded, so it's better to go early. I went on a weekend evening and had to wait a bit due to the crowds. But the experience was worth the wait! Millak The Market is truly a place with lots to enjoy. Great food, shopping, cultural experiences, and a fantastic view! If you're in Busan, make sure to drop by. I'm already excited about my next visit!
