Travel Review
I recently visited Seosan Haemieupseong Fortress! This fortress, built during the Joseon Dynasty, was truly magnificent and beautiful. Walking along the fortress walls, I could feel the breath of history. Especially when I climbed up to Cheongheojeong Pavilion, the highest point in the fortress, the view of Cheonsu Bay unfolded before my eyes. I couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
There were also various hands-on activities at Haemieupseong Fortress, which made it even more enjoyable. I tried pounding rice cakes in a traditional house and practiced archery at the traditional archery range. I think it would be even more fun for children. You can also watch traditional cultural performances, but unfortunately, I visited on a Saturday and missed the performance. Make sure to go on a weekend!
Haemieupseong Fortress is also a place where many Catholic believers were martyred during the persecution in the Joseon Dynasty. It is said that believers were hung and tortured on a pagoda tree, and standing in front of it made me feel solemn. It was a meaningful time to reflect on the painful history of our country.
As you walk along the trails, you'll see many beautiful sceneries, from vast lawns stretching between the fortress walls to pretty photo zones everywhere! It seems like a perfect place to create memories with loved ones or family. I highly recommend visiting if you enjoy taking photos.

Parking Tips
If you're planning to visit Haemieupseong Fortress, don't worry about parking. There is a large free parking lot right in front of the fortress entrance. If you come by car, you can park comfortably. When I went, there were plenty of parking spaces available even on a weekend. It takes less than 2 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the fortress entrance, so the accessibility is excellent.
However, please note that it is difficult for vehicles to enter inside the fortress walls. You'll need to tour the inside of the fortress on foot. But there's a joy in walking slowly and taking in the sights. Also, please keep in mind that motorcycles and pets are not allowed inside, so if you're planning to come with a motorcycle or a pet dog, it's good to know this in advance.
As you walk around the fortress, time will fly by. So, be careful not to exceed the parking time! If you want to stay longer at Haemieupseong Fortress, it's better to go and extend your parking in the middle, even if it's a bit troublesome. My acquaintance once got a parking ticket for exceeding the time limit. Let's all be careful!
Impressions
To be honest, I wasn't very interested in history. But after touring Haemieupseong Fortress, I felt like I wanted to learn more about the history of our country. Perhaps it's the unique charm of Haemieupseong Fortress. As they say, you see as much as you know. Maybe I could feel the lives and joys and sorrows of the people of the Joseon Dynasty while looking at Haemieupseong Fortress?
Even someone like me can fall in love with Haemieupseong Fortress, so I hope you all visit at least once. It will give you special memories and insights. It's great to go with a loved one or as a family trip with children. As a historical site, it will also be helpful for children's education. Take some time on the weekend and visit!
I hope your day at Haemieupseong Fortress becomes an unforgettable memory for you. I hope you can feel the precious history and culture of our country there and spend time healing in nature. I highly recommend a trip to Haemieupseong Fortress!
